1. General provisions
RootAcademy is an online programming education platform available at rootacademy.dev (the "Platform", "we", "us"). The Platform offers courses in Python, web development, and DevOps delivered through interactive exercises, video lessons, and written materials.
These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern the relationship between you (the "User", "you") and RootAcademy when you use the Platform. By registering on the Platform or using it in any way, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms in full.
If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, please do not use the Platform.
2. Registration and account
Access to most Platform content requires creating an account using a valid email address. You agree to provide accurate and up-to-date information when registering.
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account. If you become aware of any unauthorized access to your account, notify us immediately at business@rootacademy.dev.
Each account is intended for use by a single individual. Sharing or transferring access to your account to any third party is not permitted.
3. Acceptable use
You may use Platform materials solely for personal, non-commercial educational purposes.
The following are prohibited:
- reselling, transferring, or sharing access to your account or courses with third parties;
- copying, distributing, publishing, or otherwise reproducing course materials outside the Platform;
- using automated tools (bots, scrapers) to bulk-download content;
- taking any action that disrupts Platform operations or circumvents technical controls or payment systems.
Violations of these rules may result in account suspension without a refund.
4. Payment and access
Access to paid courses is provided in two ways: a one-time purchase of an individual course, or the Root Pass subscription covering all published paid courses. After a successful one-time payment you receive lifetime access to the purchased course for as long as the Platform operates.
The Root Pass subscription opens access to all published paid courses for a paid period: 1, 3, or 12 calendar months. There is no auto-renewal and no automatic charges, you initiate every payment yourself. When the paid period expires, subscription access is closed, while progress, certificates, courses bought one-time, and free courses are retained. You can pay via SBP (QR code or payment link) or with cryptocurrency through the payment services listed on the payment page. For details on payment and refunds, see the Refund Policy and Terms of Purchase; current prices are listed on the Pricing page.
"Lifetime access" applies to courses bought as one-time purchases and means access for the entire duration of the Platform's and the relevant course's existence. We reserve the right to update, revise, and retire individual materials.
5. Intellectual property
All Platform materials — lecture texts, videos, exercises, design, source code, and trademarks — are the intellectual property of RootAcademy or are used under a lawful licence.
By purchasing access to a course, you receive a personal, non-transferable licence to use the materials for educational purposes. No other intellectual property rights are transferred to you.
6. Limitation of liability
The Platform is provided on an "as is" basis. We make reasonable efforts to ensure the availability and quality of the materials, but we do not guarantee that the Platform will operate without interruption or errors.
RootAcademy is not liable for indirect damages, lost profits, or any other loss arising from your use of — or inability to use — the Platform, except as expressly required by applicable law.
Educational materials are not a guarantee of employment or any particular outcome — results depend in part on your own effort.
7. Changes to the Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version is always available on this page with the date of the most recent update.
We will make reasonable efforts to notify you of material changes by email or through the Platform interface. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
