1. General conditions
We want you to be satisfied with your learning experience on RootAcademy. If a course is not the right fit for you, you may request a refund under the conditions described below.
Refunds are available for one-time course purchases and for Root Pass subscription payments. The conditions for one-time purchases are described in sections 2 and 3, and for the Root Pass subscription in section 4.
2. Refund window
You may request a refund of a one-time course purchase within 14 calendar days of payment, provided you have completed no more than 20% of the course materials (lessons and exercises).
This limit reflects the nature of a digital educational product: once a significant portion of the course has been completed, the knowledge has effectively been transferred.
3. Grounds for refusal
We may decline a refund of a one-time purchase if:
- the 14-day refund window has elapsed;
- more than 20% of the course materials have been completed;
- the course has been completed in full or a certificate / final achievement has been received;
- signs of abuse are present (for example, a pattern of requesting refunds after completing courses, sharing account access with third parties, or violating the Terms of Service).
4. Root Pass subscription refunds
Within 14 calendar days of paying for the first subscription on your account, you may request a full refund of that payment.
In all other cases, the refund for the current paid period is made in accordance with Article 32 of the Consumer Rights Protection Law of the Russian Federation: proportionally to the unused days of the paid period as of the date of the request.
If you have paid for a period that has not started yet (a renewal in advance), you may request a full refund of that payment at any time before that period begins.
A refund ends subscription access to courses for the refunded period. Learning progress, solutions, certificates, courses acquired as one-time purchases, and free courses are retained.
The refund is sent using the same payment method, under the rules of section 6.
5. Refund procedure
To request a refund, email business@rootacademy.dev with the subject line "Refund request" and include:
- the email address associated with your account;
- the name of the course or the Root Pass plan;
- the date and transaction ID of your payment;
- the reason for your request (optional — this helps us improve).
We will review your request and communicate our decision within 10 business days.
6. Refund timeline and method
If your request is approved, the refund is sent using the same payment method and to the same details used for the original payment, unless otherwise agreed.
For payments made via SBP, the refund goes to the same bank account the payment was made from. The time for funds to arrive depends on the recipient's bank.
For cryptocurrency payments, the refund is made in the same cryptocurrency and the same amount that was received at the time of payment (not the fiat-equivalent value at the time of the refund). Network transaction fees may be deducted from the refund amount, and the time for funds to arrive depends on the load of the relevant blockchain network.
7. Chargebacks
Before initiating a chargeback or a payment dispute through your bank or payment system, please contact our support team first at business@rootacademy.dev. Most issues are resolved faster without involving the bank.
8. Refund contact
All refund requests should be directed to business@rootacademy.dev. General contact details are available on the Contacts page.
