1. Definitions
Service Provider — Daniil Skrebets, operating the RootAcademy platform at rootacademy.dev.
Customer — an individual who accepts these Terms of Purchase by registering and paying for a course.
Platform — the RootAcademy software and services available at rootacademy.dev.
Services — the provision of access to educational materials (courses) in an online learning format.
Root Pass: a subscription that provides access to all paid courses published on the Platform for a paid period.
Terms of Purchase — this agreement, which governs the purchase of and access to paid courses and the Root Pass subscription.
2. Subject
The Service Provider grants the Customer access to selected educational materials (courses) in programming — Python, web development, and DevOps — and the Customer pays for those services in accordance with these Terms of Purchase. Access is provided in one of two forms: a one-time purchase of an individual course, or the Root Pass subscription.
Services are delivered remotely through the Platform in the form of interactive exercises, video lessons, and written materials.
3. Acceptance
By registering on the Platform and paying for a selected course or for the Root Pass subscription, the Customer fully and unconditionally accepts these Terms of Purchase. From the moment of acceptance, these Terms constitute a binding agreement between the parties.
4. Price and payment
The price of the services is stated on the relevant course page on the Platform and on the Pricing page. For a one-time course purchase, payment is made in a single lump sum, in full. For the Root Pass subscription, each chosen period is paid for with a separate payment. Available payment methods: SBP (via QR code or payment link) and cryptocurrency through the payment services listed on the payment page. Prices for SBP payments are stated in rubles; for cryptocurrency payments a US dollar equivalent applies.
A service is considered paid once the Service Provider receives confirmation of a successful payment from the payment service. After payment of a one-time purchase, the Customer receives lifetime access to the purchased course for as long as the Platform operates. Access under the Root Pass subscription is provided under section 5.
Before initiating a chargeback or a payment dispute through a bank or payment system, the Customer agrees to first contact support at business@rootacademy.dev. Refunds are handled in accordance with the Refund Policy.
5. Root Pass subscription
Root Pass grants access to all paid courses published on the Platform for a paid period. Available periods: 1, 3, or 12 calendar months.
The subscription activates once the payment is confirmed. Paying for a new period before the current one ends adds it to the end of the period already paid for: paid days are not lost. If the subscription is not active at the time of payment, the new period starts when the payment is confirmed. The total prepaid time may not exceed 24 months ahead.
There is no auto-renewal and no automatic charges. The Customer initiates every payment themselves; when the paid period ends, no funds are charged.
When the paid period expires, access to the courses opened through the subscription is closed. The following are retained: learning progress and solutions, earned certificates, courses acquired as one-time purchases, and free courses. Paying for the subscription again restores access.
The composition of the catalog may change. Newly published paid courses are included in the subscription automatically without any change to the price of the current period. Courses published at the time a period is paid for remain available to the Customer for that paid period while the course remains published on the Platform; the Service Provider strives not to remove courses from the catalog during paid subscription periods.
Refunds for the subscription are handled in accordance with the Refund Policy.
6. Rights and obligations of the parties
The Service Provider undertakes to grant access to paid materials and to maintain reasonable Platform availability.
The Service Provider is entitled to update and revise materials, and to suspend access if the Customer breaches the Terms of Service.
The Customer undertakes to use the materials in good faith, not to share access with third parties, and to comply with the Platform's terms.
The Customer is entitled to use the paid materials and to request a refund in accordance with the Refund Policy.
7. Term of the agreement and access
The agreement takes effect upon acceptance and remains in force until the parties have fully performed their obligations. Access to a course paid for as a one-time purchase is provided on a lifetime basis for the duration of the Platform's and the relevant course's existence. Access under the Root Pass subscription is provided for the period paid for by the Customer, in accordance with section 5.
8. Termination
The Customer may withdraw from the services and request a refund in the manner and within the timeframes set out in the Refund Policy.
The Service Provider may terminate this agreement unilaterally in the event of a material breach by the Customer of these Terms of Purchase or the Terms of Service, upon notifying the Customer by email.
9. Liability
The parties shall be liable for non-performance or improper performance of their obligations as set out in these Terms and to the extent permitted by applicable law. The Service Provider's total liability is limited to the amount paid by the Customer for the services.
The Service Provider does not guarantee that the Customer will achieve any particular educational or career outcome.
10. Force majeure
The parties are released from liability for non-performance of obligations if such non-performance is caused by circumstances beyond their reasonable control (force majeure): natural disasters, armed conflict, failures of communication or blockchain networks, acts of government authorities, and other events outside the parties' reasonable control.
11. Governing law and dispute resolution
The parties will first attempt to resolve any dispute amicably through good-faith negotiation. Where a dispute cannot be resolved amicably, it shall be settled by binding arbitration.
