Privacy Policy

What personal data RootAcademy collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it.

1. What data we collect

When you use RootAcademy, we collect the following categories of data:

  • Registration data — your name (or username) and email address;
  • Payment data — information about transactions and their status. Payment details (bank details and cryptocurrency wallet addresses) are processed by the payment services listed on the payment page; we do not store them ourselves;
  • Learning data — your course progress, exercise submissions, and achievements;
  • Technical data — IP address, device and browser type, and cookies (see section 6).

2. How we use your data

We use the data we collect to:

  • provide access to the Platform and authenticate you;
  • save and display your learning progress;
  • process payments and grant access to purchased courses;
  • send service notifications (for example, payment status updates or important changes);
  • improve Platform quality and diagnose technical issues.

3. Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share the minimum necessary data with trusted third-party processors:

  • Payment services — for accepting and processing payments (the specific service is listed on the payment page);
  • Sentry — for tracking technical errors and Platform stability;
  • Plausible — for anonymous, aggregated web analytics (no cross-site tracking cookies);
  • Yandex Metrica — for aggregated traffic analytics. Session recording (Webvisor) is disabled;
  • partners in our promotion programme — receive only anonymised statistics about their own clicks and payments. No personal data is passed to them: no email addresses, no names, no account identifiers;
  • Google Cloud Platform — for hosting and data storage.

Each of these services processes data under its own privacy policy and only to the extent required to deliver the service.

4. Data storage and security

Data is stored on Google Cloud Platform infrastructure. Data in transit between your browser and the Platform is protected by encryption (HTTPS/TLS). Database access is restricted and granted only for operational purposes.

We retain your data for as long as your account exists, or for as long as necessary to provide our services and comply with legal requirements.

5. Your rights

With respect to your personal data, you have the right to:

  • access the data we hold about you;
  • request correction of inaccurate data;
  • request deletion of your account and associated personal data;
  • withdraw consent to data processing where processing is based on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, write to us at business@rootacademy.dev. Please note that deleting your account may terminate access to previously purchased courses.

6. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for the Platform to function: to maintain your login session and to remember your preferences (such as your chosen theme and language).

For analytics we use Plausible, which does not use tracking cookies and does not collect personally identifiable information. You can manage cookies in your browser settings; however, disabling essential cookies may limit Platform functionality.
